Warehouse Racking Inspections
WSP are proud to not only deliver quality products and provide an excellent end to end service for our customers but our health and safety services are at the heart of everything we do, providing real customer focused solutions. Offering our Warehouse Racking Inspections by our in-house sema Approved Racking Inspector (SARI).
We offer thorough and efficient safety audits for racking and shelving installations across the UK.
Our in house SARI will provide you with all the information that you will need to make sure that your storage systems are safe and compliant with the latest health and safety legislation.
Using a SARI racking inspection demonstrates that you have exercised due diligence in maintaining the safety of your storage racking and is a statutory compliance as well as a likely requirement for your insurance.
Importance of Racking Inspections
Racking inspections will highlight any defects small or major. Small defects can usually be repaired on site. Fixing small defects will ensure the damage will not become a more serious and costly problem.
As time goes by, small defects caused by wear and tear and can compromise the strength and capacity of the storage system. A compromised or damaged racking system can be a danger to staff and business as whole.
Knowing Your Responsibilities
Maintaining your rack safety is a legal obligation. Under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations of 1992 and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) of 1998, employers are legally required to inspect their work equipment, including all pallet racking.
How do I book an inspection?
Once an order has been placed, we will contact you to arrange a convenient time and date to carry out your inspection. The lead time is approximately 2 - 3 weeks from order. Of course, if you require this sooner, we will make every effort to accommodate this.
What can you expect from an inspection?
We carry out all of our inspections in accordance with sema Guidelines and are conducted on ground level.
Our audits take into account many factors including attention to the condition of uprights, beams, footings, braces, clips, pallet types, positioning of loads and types, forklift usage and flooring.
Concluding the racking inspection
Our SARI will provide you with a full detailed audit report listing our findings and advice if required. The report is based on the SEMA traffic light standard (Red, Amber, Green) with recommendations and full specification breakdown of your storage systems.
The audit covers your business assets for 12 months. We recommend that your business conducts regular racking inspections internally and utilises our in-house SARI at least every 12 months as a minimum.
If you are seeking to move or need to clear your storage system by end of lease, we can arrange an audit and dilapidation team.
